The Carolina Panthers qualified for the NFC postseason as the four seed by virtue of winning the lackluster NFC South division and were a sub .500 team in the regular season but they looked impressive in their victory over the Cardinals last weekend. The Panthers to me are a team that is much better than what their record in the regular season indicates and while the Cards were onto their third string quarterback and could do absolutely nothing offensively last week I think it is right to see the Panthers in this position as they do have some fire power on both sides of the ball. Cam Newton was effective through the air though did make some interesting play calls late in the game that kept the Cardinals around a little longer than anticipated and Luke Keuchly continues to prove he is one of football's best players as he was integral in the team's success this season and against Arizona last weekend. However, this is a much different animal as they take to the road to face off against the defending champs and have to play in one of the toughest venues in all of professional sports against a team who is hitting their stride at the exact right time.
The Seahawks were written earlier this season as they went on an ugly losing skid but they have silenced any of their doubters by storming back to grab the top seed in the conference and look as dangerous as ever on both sides of the ball. Seattle is obviously led defensively by the likes of Richard Sherman and Cam Chancellor and offensively by Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch but they are so much deeper than their all stars and are one of the best teams in the league top to bottom and have a legitimate shot to repeat as league champs. Seattle lucked out by claiming the top spot as they have avoided playing the Packers or Cowboys until the NFC Championship and get a Panthers team who despite playing much better of late is still a group with a losing record and to me they have absolutely no shot here. The Panthers will be around for a while as they continue to bring in pieces but they don't have nearly enough weapons to contend with Seattle and I think this game is an absolute walk for the Seahawks.
