Even though the NFL fields have gone dark for the foreseeable future, there’s still plenty to talk about when it comes to news from around the league. That said, let’s take our daily look at the headlines and see who everyone’s talking about right now.

The Colts made a few noteworthy roster moves yesterday. Most prominently, the team released SS LaRon Landry, who played in 11 games for the team last year. He recorded 47 tackles in those appearances.
Landry would have been due $8 million over the next two years had he remained with the team.
Also, LB Andrew Jackson and T Xavier Nixon earned pink slips. Jackson played in 13 games last year and Nixon had four.

We keep waiting for Minnesota TE Kyle Rudolph to have a real breakout year, but it hasn’t quite happened yet.
2014 was something of a bust, as he played in just seven games due to injuries (hernia and ankle). Rudolph posted just 24 catches for 231 yards and a pair of scores.
That said, if he can remain healthy, there’s reason to be optimistic about Rudolph’s prospects in 2015. This will be his second year in OC Norv Turner’s normally TE-heavy system, and the familiarity should go quite a ways toward on-field productivity. It’s all just preseason talk at this point, but we’ll see how it goes.

Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower had surgery earlier this week. He went under the knife to repair a torn labrum.
Hightower posted 89 tackles and six sacks in 2014.

Sources close to the Broncos seem to believe the team is apt to utilize their franchise tag on WR Demaryius Thomas. If they do, it’ll cost them $13 million.
