We’re heading into the final day of the NFL Scouting Combine, and over the weekend we learned a lot about the incoming rookies who will soon be making their marks on the league. That said, let’s take our daily look at some of the key headlines and notable players out there.

Broncos linebacker Nate Irving is getting some looks from a few teams as he moves toward free agency next month, so he shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a new home.
Irving tore his ACL late last year and had to undergo corrective surgery.

Speaking of the Broncos, RB Juwan Thompson recently had arthroscopic surgery on his knee. His 2014 campaign was cut short by knee troubles in addition to issues with his hip.
Thompson should be fine by the time the season rolls around and will be in the mix to be the Broncos’ fullback.

More disappointing news on CB Morris Claiborne, who has been plagued by injury in his NFL career. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones seems to be doubtful that Claiborne will be ready for training camp after tearing a patellar tendon in his left knee back in September.
Look for Dallas to address the CB position this off-season, either through the draft or free agency.
As for Claiborne, he’s played just 29 games in his three-year NFL tenure due to injury.

This past weekend, we learned that the Giants and Jason Pierre-Paul are in negotiations for a new contract. There’s not much info to go on as far as financials, but if he and the team can’t agree on terms, the Giants could franchise him for the 2015 season.
Putting the franchise tag on Pierre-Paul would likely cost around $15 million, which sounds pricey until you factor in his 12 ½ sacks (team-high) and 77 tackles last season, making him an invaluable part of the defense.
