If your house is anything like mine, the Combine was the background noise to your weekend. We saw some impressive performances (Danny Shelton, people), but today we’re going to focus on Combines of yore. Later this week, we’re going to start breaking down the best showings of 2015, but for today, we’re going to look at the top ten 40 yard dash times in NFL Combine history. Before you ask, CJ2K is still No. 1. Quick note before we delve into today’s list: These times are the fastest since the year 2000; prior to that, laser timing wasn’t used, so there are much greater odds of inaccuracy. 


Top Ten All-Time Fastest 40 Yard Dash Times at the NFL Combine


1. RB Chris Johnson set the record for the 40 in 2008 in with his 4.24 time. 


2. In 2014, RB Dri Archer came close to tying Johnson’s record when he ran the 40 in 4.26 seconds. 


3. At 2013’s Combine, WR Marquise Goodwin clocked-in with a 4.27 40 yard dash time. 


4. In 2005, WR Jerome Mathis ran the 40 in 4.28 seconds. 


(4*) 5. WR Jacoby Ford had a 40 time of 4.28 in 2010. 


(4*) 6. At the 2011 Combine, CB DeMarcus Van Dyke ran the 40 in 4.28 seconds. 


7. In 2008, CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie had a 40 time of 4.29 seconds. 


(7*) 8. At 2005’s Combine, CB Stanford Routt ran the 40 in 4.29 seconds. 


(7*) 9. WR Trindon Holliday ran a 4.29 40 at the 2010 Combine. 


(7*) 10. In 2005, WR Fabian Washington clocked-in with a 4.29 40 yard dash time. 


(7*) 11. At this year’s Combine, UAB’s final NFL prospect, WR J.J. Nelson, ran a 4.29 40 yard dash, the fastest thus far.
