We’ve got just one more day left until the start of the 2015 NFL league year, and the anticipation is running high. As we cruise toward the closing hours of the year, let’s check out some of the news and rumors out there everyone’s talking about.

Let’s start things out with the Colts today. Indianapolis is reportedly dead-set on getting Lions DT Nick Fairley, and they’re far outbidding everyone else who wants him.
According to reports, the Colts are doubling offers bid by everyone else as far as guaranteed money.

Also in Indianapolis, the Colts are reportedly not interested in singing impending Cowboys free agent DeMarco Murray, despite the team’s need for quality running backs.

The Packers re-upped backup QB Scott Tolzien, according to a report that came out yesterday. He’ll get a one-year deal for $1.35 million to sit behind Aaron Rodgers.

Terrence “Pot Roast” Knighton has no shortage of potential suitors in free agency. There are four teams with big interest in him, including the Bears, Raiders, Redskins and Colts.
Knighton has said that he’d take a pay cut to remain in Denver, but the two sides haven’t worked anything out yet. He’s coming off a 30-tackle, two-sack year in 2014.

The 49ers have their eyes on Ravens WR Torrey Smith, who is set to be a free agent tomorrow. The interest is reportedly mutual.
The Niners are apparently the frontrunners to acquire Smith’s services, as he’s doubtful to re-sign with the Ravens.

Top free agent tight end Julius Thomas is near signing with the Jaguars, according to a report that came out yesterday.
If the Jags land Thomas, expect them to cut veteran TE Marcedes Lewis, who is entering the final year of a five-season deal. Losing Lewis would get the team $6.8 million against the cap.
