NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
April 5, 2015
It’s an NFL off-season Sunday, and there’s plenty to talk about as we get set for the draft later this month. That said, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the news this morning.
If you’re a Rams fan, you should be rooting for WR Kenny Britt. He’s reportedly going to have a larger role in the team’s offense this upcoming season, and the coaching staff says he’s going to be putting up bigger numbers in 2015.
Britt has a career-high of 48 receptions, which led St. Louis last year. He’s got six seasons under his belt, compiling 205 catches for 3,198 yards and 22 scores in that time.

It’s been a little while since we’ve checked in on Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney, so let’s see how he’s doing. The latest news has him optimistic about his recovery from microfracture surgery, and confident in his first words since the procedure in early December.
Clowney had to remain mostly immobile for two months following his knee surgery, but seems to be on the road to recovery. We’ll see how he does in his sophomore year.
The Colts have a new safety today, after agreeing to terms with Dwight Lowery this weekend. There’s no word yet on the exact numbers included in the contract.
Lowery was an unrestricted free agent and is heading into year No. 8 as an NFL player. In time with the Jets, Jaguars and Falcons, he’s recorded 259 tackles, 50 pass defenses, 12 picks, seven forced fumbles and four sacks. He’s 29 years old.
Now let’s check out a trade that happened over the weekend. The Buccaneers and Redskins engaged in a deal, with Tampa sending Dashon Goldson--who is a two-time Pro-Bowler--to Washington.
The ‘Skins will be giving up a 2016 sixth-round draft pick and a seventh-round draft pick. This is a good cap move for the Bucs, who will save $4 million on the deal.
