USA TODAY Sports
Position: Wide Receiver
Career Stats: 150 receptions, 2,227 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns.
Strengths: Stefon Diggs is one of the better more natural athletes at the wide receiver position, as he’s quick in and out of his cuts, and he has the top end speed to stretch a defense. Diggs is a home run threat every time he touches the ball, crafty in the open field and was one of the more dangerous special teams players in college football. Diggs has impressive body control and does a fine job of getting the ball at its highest point. Stefon Diggs has good field awareness and will fight in order to move the chains. Diggs also had no real off-the-field issues besides refusing to shake hands before the coin toss against Penn State.
Weaknesses: Stefon Diggs obviously isn’t the biggest receiver in the world, which makes you wonder if he’ll last at the next level and if he can hold his own in the blocking department. Diggs can get bullied in press coverage and against bigger cornerbacks. Diggs has suffered two season-ending injuries with a broken leg and a lacerated kidney.
Projection: Stefon Diggs is your prototypical slot receiver who could carve out a long, successful career at the next level as a playmaker. Diggs’ lack of strength and size will prevent him from going early in the draft, but his ability to provide a spark should not be undervalued. I’ll spend a pick on Diggs as early as the fourth round.
