NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
April 8, 2015
The 2015 NFL Draft will take place in just a little over three weeks, so start making plans to be in front of that TV. In the meantime, it’s time for our daily look at what’s happening around the league, so let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there right now.
The Jets inked LB Erin Henderson to a one-year deal yesterday, according to sources close to the team.
Henderson was released by the Vikings after a pair of DUI arrests, and didn’t play at all in 2014.

The Titans will be hosting OT Joe Barksdale this week. He’s been a starter for the Rams for 29 games over the last two years. In his five-year NFL tenure, he’s logged 54 total appearances.
Bills DT Marcell Dareus escaped some legal drama yesterday, agreeing to a plea deal with prosecutors over his car-racing charges.
Instead, he’ll be getting a pair of traffic violations for the incident in which he crashed his car into a tree last year in Buffalo.
Dareus isn’t out of the proverbial woods yet, though. The league will likely review the deal and see if he will face any kind of disciplinary action.
Lions fans are getting a bit nervous about the state of LB DeAndre Levy’s contract, and rightly so. He’s set to become a free agent after this season, but the team has not begun negotiating with him about an extension.
Levy put up 151 tackles and a pick last year, so he’s an important cog in the Lions’ defensive plans.
Speaking of Lions linebackers, Detroit has a new one today. The team inked LB Brandon Copeland yesterday. He did well at the veterans’ combine and has a history with the Lions. He was on their practice squad in 2013.
The Vikings inked John Sullivan--who is a center--to a contract extension yesterday. He’s now signed through 2017.
Sullivan gets $7 million in base salary this year, then $5.5 the following two years.
