Position: Wide Receiver
Career Stats: 108 receptions, 1,860 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.
Strengths: Phillip Dorsett is one of the faster receivers this draft has to offer, as his 4.33 time at the NFL combine was the second best among WRs. Dorsett always demands the attention from a safety and is a nightmare to cover when crossing the middle of the field. Dorsett has solid hands and is a threat to score any time he touches the football. Dorsett has good body control and does a fine job of tracking the football. Dorsett played some of the top comp in the country and topped 20 yards per reception in 15 different games. Phillip Dorsett doesn’t have any off-the-field issues to worry about.
Weaknesses: Phillip Dorsett needs to add some weight to his small frame if he hopes to be more than just a slot receiver. Dorsett could also polish up his route running a bit. Dorsett had an MCL injury in 2013.
Projection: There’s little doubt in my mind that Phillip Dorsett is going to be a playmaker in the next level, as he’s way too talented and fast not to be. Dorsett is close to a plug-and-play guy as you’re going to find, and don’t be surprised if he becomes the next Antonio Brown. Dorsett will go early to a team that needs that spark/deep threat offensively.
