USA TODAY Sports
Position: Running Back
Career Stats: 578 rushing attempts, 3,039 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns.
Strengths: Michael Dyer runs with great patience and has an impressive feel for the game, as he sees things before they happen. Dyer has no problem being the workhorse runner, as he was the main guy for Auburn in 2011 with 242 rushing attempts. Dyer does a good job of taking care of the football and can get to his top speed rather quickly. Dyer has experience playing in a pro-style offense and has a knack for playing his best football the bigger the game is. Michael Dyer does have off-the-field issues, but he did a solid job of bouncing back and keeping his nose clean when given a second chance with Louisville.
Weaknesses: Michael Dyer has had many troubles with law enforcement, which included marijuana and gun incidents. On the field, Dyer lacks explosion through the hole and doesn’t run with the type of power his compact frame would suggest. Dyer also hasn’t shown that he can be a threat in the passing game. Dyer also has an injury history that includes sports hernia injury back in 2013.
Projection: Michael Dyer may not even be drafted due to his lengthy off-the-field issues and the fact this draft is rather deep at the running back position. Still, Dyer brings a few things to the table that a team would like and he plays hard. Dyer will at the very least get an invite to camp, but he’ll have to really impress to make an NFL roster.
