NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
April 17, 2015
We’ve got less than two weeks to wait until the 2015 NFL Draft, and the speculation is flying everywhere you look. While we’re waiting on the big day, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in our daily wrap-up.
Fantasy owners take note: longtime Chargers TE Antonio Gates will likely be scaling his workload back this upcoming season, and he’s said so himself.
Gates said he played more than the team expected him to play last year due to injuries. In that time he put up 69 grabs for 821 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Don’t expect a repeat of those numbers, however. Gates should be giving way to Ladarius Green in 2015, providing we don’t have another rash of injuries in San Diego.

Early yesterday, the Jaguars agreed to a one-year contract extension for LB Paul Posluszny. The deal likely came as a salary cap move, as he was scheduled to count a whopping $9.5 million against the cap in 2015.
Posluszny tore a pec last year, which caused him to trim his season to seven games.
Dolphins G Daryn Colledge retired from the NFL this week after a nine-year career. He began his tenure with the Packers, where he played for five seasons.
After Green Bay, Colledge moved on to the Cardinals and Dolphins. He was part of the 2010 championship team with the Pack.
In other minor news this week, kicker Kai Forbath signed his tender with the Redskins. The team offered him $1.54 million, to which he agreed.
Forbath has been with the ‘Skins since 2012. He’s made 88.1 percent of his attempts in that time.
Before we sign off for today, let’s touch on the reinstatement of Vikings RB Adrian Peterson. He’ll be able to partake in team activities effective today.
Peterson was hit with a suspension last November, but as of now looks headed back the field in Minnesota.
