NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
May 2, 2015
With the 2015 NFL Draft now two days deep, we’re getting a clearer picture of what’s happening around the league as we lead up to this new season. Before we settle in for today’s action, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the news.
With Round 1 of the NFL Draft passing Thursday with no deal from the Eagles and Titans involving Philly moving up to that second pick (to draft Marcus Mariota), the focus now becomes the team’s current quarterback situation.
The Eagles are reportedly working on a contract extension with new QB Sam Bradford, who was part of a package Philadelphia would have potentially offered the Titans in exchange for the No. 2 overall pick (according to rumor, anyway).
Bradford is heading into the final year of his rookie deal, and he’ll get $12.9 million. It’s tough telling what he could have done if he hadn’t been hampered by injury during his entire NFL tenure. He’s fresh off another lost season in 2014.

The Colts released wide receiver and return specialist Josh Cribbs yesterday. The team rarely used him on offense; he posted just one catch for eight yards in 2014.
In another minor move yesterday, the Bengals cut wide receiver Eric Ward. He has never played in an NFL game.
Will the Cardinals be trading Michael Floyd after all? It’s certainly possible. The team is reportedly willing to listen to offers for the wide receiver.
Arizona picked up Floyd’s fifth-year option early this week, but thus far haven’t heard any offers for him yet.
The Rams held a meeting with disgruntled wide receiver Zac Stacy yesterday, shortly after Stacy expressed a desire to be traded or released in the wake of the team drafting RB Todd Gurley in Thursday’s first round.
Stacy’s future in St. Louis hasn’t been determined just yet, but a trade is definitely possible.
