NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
June 19, 2015
We’ve had a very interesting off-season week in the NFL, and there are plenty of notable players and situations to monitor as we head into the weekend. That said, let’s check out some of the headline-makers this morning and see who’s in the news.
The Panthers’ Kelvin Benjamin has some issues to overcome before the team’s Week 1 opener. He sustained a hamstring injury in Wednesday’s practice, and word broke yesterday that he also reported to camp around eight or nine pounds overweight.
The Panthers coaching staff believes that Benjamin’s weight could have been a factor in his injury this week. He’ll have to shave off a few pounds before he can get to work on bettering his excellent 2014 season--1,008 receiving yards and nine scores.

Speaking of injuries, the Rams are dealing with one in the form of No. 10 overall draft pick Todd Gurley. He’s still questionable for the team’s training camp, as he’s attempting to come back from a torn ACL.
Gurley is still in the rehab stages of his recovery, and there’s a chance that he could hit the PUP list.
In other NFC injury news, Redskins OT Trent Williams has missed the team’s entire off-season program due to an ankle issue.
The good news is that Williams has been attending all the team’s meetings, so he won’t have as much to catch up with as one might think. His injury has been categorized as “minor” by the Redskins coaching staff, so chances are that by the season opener he should be up to speed.
The Eagles have reportedly been in contract negotiations with their new QB Sam Bradford, but according to the latest news the two sides haven’t made a whole lot of progress.
Bradford is entering the final year of his rookie deal. If he and the Eagles can’t reach an agreement on an extension, he’ll hit the free agent market after this year.
