NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
June 25, 2015
We’re cruising toward another off-season weekend in the NFL, and in the meantime, the storylines have been coming in pretty consistently. Let’s check out some of the notable players who are in the news right now.
The Bengals made a minor signing yesterday, inking free agent QB Keith Wenning.
Wenning was a sixth-round pick in 2014 out of Ball State, where he was a four-year starter. He was initially picked up by the Ravens, where he spent his rookie year on the practice squad before being released last month.

One interesting storyline surrounding the Redskins this season concerns WR Pierre Garcon. After a relatively down-year in 2014, he’s looking to carve himself a prominent position in the offense once again, and has been putting in all the off-season work it’s going to take to get it.
Garcon has earned the praise of the coaching staff over the past several weeks thanks to his sterling work ethic. He’s setting himself up to improve over his 2014 numbers of 68 grabs for 752 yards.
CB Antoine Cason, who is a free agent right now, will be out for the year following surgery on his right foot.
Cason played for Carolina last year, but was released after allowing a half-dozen touchdown passes. He allowed 56 of 70 passes completed against him.
The Vikings have a very intriguing player in WR Charles Johnson, who could be posting some huge numbers in 2015.
Johnson and QB Teddy Bridgewater seem to be developing a solid chemistry together, and with new wide receiver Mike Wallace in the mix, it’s all adding up to a favorable situation for him.
Over the last seven games of the 2014 season, Johnson logged 25 grabs for 415 yards. That could simply be the beginning of some stellar numbers if he can keep that going this year.
