NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 1 Schedule and More

See the Latest Odds

We’re less than a week away from the training camp season in the NFL, and the news keeps piling in. let’s check out some of the headlines from around the league and see what’s going on this morning.

Yesterday, we got some news on Seahawks safety Earl Thomas. Unfortunately, it’s not great news.
Thomas’ status for Week 1 is currently up in the air, as he’s attempting to fight off a shoulder injury. Specifically, it’s a separated shoulder, sustained in last year’s NFC Championship Game. He had surgery for it back in February.
Regardless, Thomas won’t be ready in time for training camp, so we’ll have to monitor his health during the preseason and see if he can beat expectations for the opener.

The Eagles’ Sam Bradford gets a little better bill of health on his injured knee. He’s scheduled to be ready to go in time for training camp.
Bradford suffered an ACL tear this past year, which was his second in the last two seasons. He’ll get back to work on August 2nd when camp opens up for Philly.

We got a pretty noteworthy development in the ongoing Tom Brady Deflategate case yesterday. Word broke that Brady’s team had reached out to the league about a settlement in his four-game suspension.
Brady is currently trying to appeal his suspension, and is reportedly digging in for a lengthy legal battle if it comes to that. Suffice to say, both he and the league would likely benefit from a quick resolution to this whole mess.

Speaking of the Patriots, the team inked cornerback Tarell Brown yesterday. He’s been in the league for eight years and has 11 interceptions to his credit in that time.
Brown last played for the Raiders in 2014, logging 55 tackles but no picks in 14 games.
