See the Latest Odds

We’re knee-deep in the second preseason NFL week, and cruising quickly toward the start of the 2015 campaign. Let’s take our daily look around the league and see which players are making headlines this morning.

The Packers got some potentially crushing news yesterday concerning top WR Jordy Nelson. He left Green Bay’s preseason game against the Steelers during the team’s first drive, thanks to a non-contact knee injury.
Nelson is rumored to have a torn ACL in his right knee, which means he’ll likely be done for the season.
If indeed true, this is a crippling blow to the Packers offense, who will have to rely more heavily on Randall Cobb and Eddie Lacy now that Nelson is down. We'll get more info on him today.
We’re also going to hear renewed discussions about the value of "meaningless" preseason games in the coming days. Get ready for that.

NFL News: Player News and Updates for 8/24/15

Reggie Wayne, the former Colts star WR and longtime NFL veteran, took a physical for the Patriots yesterday.
Wayne is coming off a pretty productive season in Indianapolis. He logged 64 grabs for 779 yards and a pair of scores in 2014.

The Texans officially named QB Brian Hoyer the No. 1 starter for the 2015 season (or the beginning of it at least) this morning.
Hoyer logged 3,326 yards with 12 scores and 13 picks last year in Cleveland. He inked a two-year deal with Houston this off-season and beat out Ryan Mallett for the starting role.

The Redskins’ medical staff cleared QB Robert Griffin III for practice yesterday, just a few days after he suffered a head injury.
Griffin was able to do some individual work and 11-on-11 stuff at Washington’s Sunday practice session.

Atlanta’s Roddy White is going to go under the knife for a minor surgery on his elbow. He’ll be out for the rest of the preseason while he recovers.
White should be ready to go for the team’s Week 1 game, which is September 14. The surgery is more of a clean-up than anything.
