The Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars play a Friday preseason game at EverBank Field.
The Detroit Lions are 1-1 in preseason play and are coming off a loss to the Washington Redskins. Dan Orlovsky has looked sharp with more than 200 passing yards and three touchdowns, but Matthew Stafford will see his most reps in this game after throwing just 10 balls. The future isn’t looking very bright for Kellen Moore to become the backup QB in Detroit. Ameer Abdullah has racked up 74 rushing yards on nine carries and Zach Zenner has 60 receiving yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Travis Lewis has come away with 11 tackles, Jermelle Cudjo has three tackles for loss and Darius Slay has a pass deflection. The Lions defense has produced four sacks and has allowed 14 second half points.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are 1-1 in preseason play and are coming off a loss to the New York Giants. Blake Bortles has already thrown 31 passes for more than 200 yards, but he’s sure to see even more reps in the Jags third preseason game. Bortles has improved his accuracy, but he has been sacked twice already and has to get rid of the ball quicker. Denard Robinson leads Jacksonville with 41 rushing yards and Allen Robinson is coming off a performance in which he had 64 receiving yards. Defensively, the Jaguars have come away with three sacks and allowed 43 points in two games. Jeremiah George has produced 14 tackles, John Lotulelei has two pass deflections and Nordly Capi has two sacks.
The Lions are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games on grass and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Jaguars are 18-37-1 ATS in their last 56 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The favorite is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
I really like the Jaguars young core, as there are a lot of guys who are eager to prove themselves. Sure, the Lions have the advantage with thir starters, but I expect Jacksonville to find a way to pull this game out. Jacksonville is the type of team that really values the preseason.
