NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 1 Schedule and More
September 2, 2015
It’s been an interesting lead-up so far to our final round of preseason games in the NFL. Let’s check the headlines and see who’s making news in our daily wrap-up of action from around the league.
The Redskins’ Robert Griffin III will be evaluated either tomorrow or Friday by an independent neurologist.
The doctor will test him for nagging concussion symptoms to see if he’s fit to play in the team’s final preseason game.
Griffin was recently demoted to the No. 2 QB on the Redskins roster.

Seahawks RB Robert Turbin was hurt in a preseason game over the weekend. He injured his ankle.
The diagnosis here doesn’t seem to be too good. The coaching staff is calling it a “significant ankle sprain,” and it was clearly visible in the MRI. We’ll have to wait and see how long he’s out.
Bad news for new Jaguars TE Julius Thomas. He’s opting to go with surgery on his broken index finger, which will keep him out of action for up to a month.
Thomas is getting the surgery today, so that means he’ll probably miss a few games of the regular season.
As for Packers WR Randall Cobb, he’s still nursing a sore right shoulder that kept him out of practice yesterday.
Cobb seems to be optimistic about his condition, however. He says he doesn’t plan on missing any game time. We’ll see how that works out.
Good news on Chiefs TE Travis Kelce. He’s got a “slightly sprained ankle,” which is a much better diagnosis than the high-ankle sprain that was initially feared.
Kelce has a couple of weeks to get ready for the season opener, so it’s possible he could be okay when game-time rolls around.
