The Seattle Seahawks and St. Louis Rams meet Sunday afternoon at the Edward Jones Dome.
The Seattle Seahawks haven’t changed their expectations a bit, as they hope to get to the Super Bowl for a third straight season. Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch will continue to lead the Seahawks on the offensive side of the ball, but the addition of tight end Jimmy Graham certainly helps take some of the pressure off those two guys. The Seahawks also have a new secret weapon in rookie Tyler Lockett, who can stretch the field and do a little bit of everything. Defensively, the Seattle Seahawks finished last season ranked first in total yards allowed and first in scoring defense. Seattle’s defense that still includes Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman and Cliff Avril will remain one of the best in the NFL. Safety Kam Chancellor is questionable due to a holdout.

The St. Louis Rams have won 20 games the last three seasons and are chasing their first playoff bid since 2004. The Rams have themselves a new quarterback in Nick Foles, who could get the most out of Brian Quick and Kenny Britt if he plays anywhere close to what he was with the Philadelphia Eagles. The different maker for St. Louis’ offense will come at running back, as Tre Mason, Benjamin Cunningham and Todd Gurley have to get going this season. Defensively, the Rams finished last season ranked 17th in total yards allowed and 17th in scoring defense. A St. Louis defense line of Robert Quinn, Aaron Donald and Chris Long may be the scariest in the NFL. Running back Mason is questionable with a hamstring injury.
The Seahawks are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. NFC West and 15-6 ATS in their last 21 road games. The Rams are 14-35-2 ATS in their last 51 games in September and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 vs. NFC West. The Seahawks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings in St. Louis and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 meetings overall.
The home team has won six of the last seven meetings between these two teams and 10 of the Seahawks last 12 regular season losses have come on the road. I'm kind of leaning upset here, as the Rams are clearly heading in the right direction and have a defense that can give Wilson and company trouble. Give me the points just to be safe.
