The Denver Broncos head into week three with a horseshoe firmly placed around their necks as they have survived two games in which defeat looked imminent but remain one of a handful of teams unscathed through the first two weeks. Denver had a very rough first half on the road against the Chiefs last week but a strong second half led by Peyton Manning changed things in a hurry and then a fumble by Jamaal Charles in the game's dying seconds led to a scoop and score for Denver and sets them up in a position to move to 3-0 with a win on the road against the Lions. Denver finds themselves in a very precarious spot as they haven't looked like the Super Bowl favourites many had them pegged for but have shown glimpses of it and now could be on full display against a very weak Lions defense and this could serve as the coming out party for the Broncos run game.
Detroit meanwhile enters Sunday night with an 0-2 record with losses to San Diego and Minnesota and while both games were within reason they haven't looked very good so far and things don't get any easier with the Broncos on tap on Sunday night. The Lions are a far stretch from where they were just a few seasons back but they do have a ton of play makers still especially on offense and if they're going to find success in this one they need to find a way to solve Denver's imposing defense. The Leos need to get Ameer Abdullah going and allow Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate to create some space down field but any way you look at it things look bleak for Detroit despite being at home and while the game could be close for the majority I think Denver pulls away in the end and covers a modest spread.
