The Detroit Lions will look to solve a Seahawks defense that shut out the Chicago Bears last weekend and at the same time get their own offense rolling which has been sputtering out of the gate this season. Detroit underwent a massive face lift in the offseason as they lost both Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley and it is evident they are a bit lost without their defensive leaders from a year ago as they have lost all three of their games so far this season. The Lions have also struggled on offense this season as Matt Stafford seems to be off his game and both Golden Tate and Calvin Johnson have underachieved as a result. Detroit will turn to rookie running back Ameer Abdullah on the ground against a Seahawks team who hasn't played their best football so far this season but will be looking to make a statement for the second straight week and go for consecutive shutouts.
The Seahawks lost their season opener to the St. Louis Rams and followed that up with a tough loss against the Green Bay Packers but after a win at home against the lowly Bears last week the Hawks are in a good position to move back to the .500 mark with a prime time show down against the Lions. Seattle is without Marshawn Lynch tonight and while that is a huge loss as he is one of the better backs in football the Hawks can turn to Thomas Rawls who filled in nicely in Lynch's absence last week and against a Lions defense that has underwhelmed so far he could be in for a nice evening. However, the Lions are in desperation mode as they can ill afford to drop to 0-4 in a competitive NFC and while they will have their work cut out for them I think they can keep this one closer than people think. Detroit does have play makers on offense and if they can get a couple bounces they should be able to keep this one within the inflated spread.
