NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 9 Schedule and More
November 5, 2015
The Week 9 NFL schedule will get going tonight with an AFC North battle between the Browns and Bengals. While we’re waiting on that one, let’s check out some of the notable headlines around the league.
Yesterday, a report came out on Colts WR T.Y. Hilton. He apparently had to undergo an MRI earlier this week on his foot.
It’s possible that Hilton may have to miss game time, or may possibly be limited against the Broncos this weekend. Even at full strength, that’s a tough matchup for him.

Let’s check out a couple of injury items with the Titans. First off, there’s WR Harry Douglas. He was able to return to practice yesterday following his rib injury. He’ll get an increased workload this weekend with Kendall Wright possibly out--Wright missed out on practice yesterday due to a knee injury.
As for QB Marcus Mariota, he was able to participate in drills yesterday, which is a good sign for his availability in Week 9. Mariota has been out of action for the past two weeks.
The Chargers’ Antonio Gates was able to practice yesterday, which is a good sign in his recovery from that knee injury. He missed out on practice all last week but was active for the Ravens game.
Then there’s Ladarius Green. He wasn’t able to practice yesterday thanks to an ankle injury. We’ll get some better information on his status today and tomorrow.
The Buccaneers’ Vincent Jackson was out of action yesterday at practice due to his knee injury. He’ll probably miss a few weeks as he heals up. In the meantime, Mike Evans will continue to see the bulk of the WR work.
The Jets definitely need to get back on track this weekend against the Jaguars. They got some good QB news yesterday at practice, with both Ryan Fitzpatrick and Geno Smith participating in throwing drills.
It sounds like Fitzpatrick should be ready to go for this weekend, but his long-term health remains a question mark heading into the remainder of the season.
Speaking of quarterback injuries, Tony Romo was able to perform some individual work yesterday at practice. He’s been doing throwing for the past couple of weeks but isn’t expected to be good to go until Week 11.
In the meantime, the Cowboys are pretty much a mess at the quarterback position.
