NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 16 Schedule and More
December 23, 2015
We’ve got just one more day to wait before the NFL gets going on Week 16, but while we’re waiting there’s plenty to talk about. Let’s check out some of the notable players and situations from around the league.
The Colts are expecting QB Matt Hasselbeck to be able to start this week’s game against the Dolphins. Hasselbeck is dealing with an assortment of minor injuries.
The veteran QB is really banged up right now, but he was able to participate fully in practice yesterday. He may not be able to make it through this weekend’s game.

Chargers WR Stevie Johnson was able to practice yesterday on a limited basis. He’s wrestling with a groin injury.
Johnson has a chance to play in tomorrow’s game, but will have to make some solid strides to get there.
Jonathan Stewart didn’t sound too positive about his Week 16 status when asked about it yesterday. He also sat out of practice.
Stewart looks like he’s headed for another week of resting that foot. The Panthers have nothing to play for this week against the Falcons--aside from a perfect season--so they’ll likely err on the side of caution once again here.
Ty Montgomery, who is a WR from the Packers, will get surgery on his ailing ankle next week.
The procedure is more of a clean-up than anything. He’s got some cartilage damage going on in there. Montgomery should be ready to roll by the time OTAs hit, but his potential role on the team is unclear at this point.
The Giants’ Odell Beckham will get his appeal heard today at noon, and after that session we’ll know what the league will do about his one-game suspension for a helmet-to-helmet hit in Week 16.
We should have a decision by tonight, but most people (including us) think the appeal will do no good. In the meantime, he’s practicing with the team.
