The Chicago Bears look to put up their first points of the preseason after getting shutout in their opener as they head into Foxboro to battle the New England Patriots.
The Chicago Bears didn’t get off to a great start this preseason as they were blanked by a 22-0 final against the defending Super Bowl champions last week and now they head on the road to Gillette Stadium to battle the Patriots who looked excellent last week against the Saints. The Bears are in a transition phase right now as they continue to grow under the John Fox regime and this year they brought in some nice pieces in free agency and get former first round pick Kevin White back after missing all of last season with injuries. The Bears need a strong season out of Jay Cutler who continues to be one of the most polarizing figures in the NFL but when he is playing well he is among the league’s best.

The Patriots meanwhile are looking for another division crown and a deep playoff push but they will have to do so without Tom Brady for the first four weeks as he will serve a suspension for Deflate Gate, finally putting an end to that saga. The Pats will turn to Jimmy Garrapolo for the first four games and while we haven’t seen him in meaningful games yet he is apparently ready and able to serve in the interim and with the weapons he has at his disposal you would have to think the Pats can manage to sneak out a couple of wins before Brady returns.
The Bears are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall, and OVER in 22 of their last 31 road games while the Pats are 18-7-2 ATS in their last 27 home games and have played to the OVER in four of their last five meetings with the Bears. Chicago will be better here but the Pats defense looked good last week and they should continue to shine in this one.
