The Baltimore Ravens head to Lucas Oil Stadium as the Indianapolis Colts play host in a week 2 preseason tilt.
The Baltimore Ravens started their preseason by allowing Cam Newton and the Carolina offense to drive down the field 68 yards for an opening drive touchdown and found themselves in a 10-0 hole at the end of the first, but only allowed another 9 points the rest of the way en route to an opening week 22-19 victory. Ryan Mallett took over the starting duties at the quarterback position for Baltimore with incumbent starter Joe Flacco likely sidelined for the rest of the preseason due to injury. Mallett was a capable option for the Ravens, going 11-15 for 91 yards and a touchdown, which was cancelled out by an interception later on. The battle for the starting running back job in Baltimore started with favorite Terrance West managing just 25 yards on 11 carries but did end up scoring twice in the game. Backup Kenneth Dixon led the team with 44 yards on 9 carries including a 19-yard rush to help the cause. The Baltimore receiving core had a balanced evening with 6 of 8 receivers ending the night with at least 2 receptions. Also of note is the return of linebacker Terrell Suggs to the practice field this past Monday. Suggs will surely be a morale boost and provide a spark to the Ravens defensive unit in desperate need of some leadership.

The Indianapolis Colts also trailed early on in their game against the Buffalo Bills in week 1, falling behind 9-0 before answering with 9 points of their own and stopping a last second 2-point conversion attempt from the bills to eke out a 19-18 victory. The $140 million man, Andrew Luck was ruled out for the game against Buffalo and was replaced by backup Scott Tolzien. Tolzien connected with running back Jordan Todman for a 42 yard catch-and-run score, one of Tolzien’s 12 completions on the day. Stephen Morris took over for Tolzien later in the game and found the Morris-to-Morris connection hooking up with Chester Morris for a 57-yard touchdown, which proved to be the game winning touchdown. The main concern for the Colts, as is a few other teams early on in this preseason, is the inability to get a ground game going, as the Colts put up a measly 30 yards on 23 carries in the opening game. That won’t cut it in a preseason game, let alone a regular season game so it will be interesting to see what adjustments are made going forward.
Baltimore is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. AFC while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 overall. Indianapolis is 25-10-1 ATS in their last 36 home games, while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 Saturday games, and 7-3 in their last 10 home games.
The line here looks about dead on, I’m tempted to take the under so I will, but as a backup I’ll take Baltimore and the points as I see this being another nailbiter either way.
