The Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets open the 2016 season Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium.
The Cincinnati Bengals make the playoffs every year but fail to accomplish anything, so the pressure is on Marvin Lewis and company. Offensively, the Bengals have more than enough to succeed, as A.J. Green is one of the top receivers in the league while Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard make one of the better running back tandems. Also, quarterback Andy Dalton completed 66 percent of his passes for 3,250 yards and 25 touchdowns in 13 games. There’s no reason why Cincy can’t be one of the better offenses in the AFC this season. Defensively, the Cincinnati Bengals finished last season ranked 11th in total yards allowed and second in scoring defense. From Carlos Dunlap to Rey Maualuga to Dre Kirkpatrick, the Bengals defense is as good as it gets and will once again make it tough on their opponents.

The New York Jets just missed out on the postseason last year despite winning 10 games in the first year under coach Todd Bowles. Offensively, the Jets should be able to move the ball with playmakers such as receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker while the addition of running back Matt Forte is an upgrade over Chris Ivory. It’s just a matter of Ryan Fitzpatrick knocking off the rust due to a lengthy holdout and improving his subpar completion percentage from a year ago. Defensively, the New York Jets finished last season ranked fourth in total yards allowed and eighth in scoring defense. The Jets defense will once again be tough to move the ball against, as Muhammad Wilkerson holds down the line and Darrelle Revis continues to make life hell for the opposing team's top receiver.
The Bengals are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 road games and 12-3-2 ATS in their last 17 games overall. The Jets are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Bengals are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings in New York.
The Jets were the favorite in this game at one point, so the big line move is kind of odd. I'm high on the Bengals like a lot of people are, but the Jets defense is one of the best in the league and this is a Jets team that finished 6-2 SU at home last season. New York is no slouch and is getting disrespected with this line.
I like the Jets to win this game outright.
