The Line: New England Patriots -6.5 -- Over/Under: 41.5 See the Latest Odds

The New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins face off on Sunday in Foxborough in a week 2 NFL AFC East rivalry game.

The New England Patriots looked impressive out of the gate in week 1 beating the Arizona Cardinals on the road despite not having their QB Tom Brady available. The Patriots offense gained 363 yards and scored 23 points and moved the ball effectively when they needed to against a very good Cardinals defense. Pats QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed 24 of his 33 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown and looked to very capable running the offense. LeGarrette Blount was the Patriots top ground gainer rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown and Julian Edelman was the top receiver with 7 catches. The New England defense looked tough allowing 344 yards while getting 3 sacks. Devin McCourty was the Patriots top tackler with 10 while Logan Ryan and Patrick Chung had 6 each. The Patriots will still be missing several players for this one including Brady and Ninkovich.

New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins - 9/18/16 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Miami Dolphins fought the good fight in week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks but in the end were on the wrong end of the score and taking the loss. The Dolphins offense managed just 214 yards and 10 points but were able to stay in the game by not turning the ball over. Miami QB Ryan Tannehill completed just 16 of his 29 passes for 186 yards and he ran for 17 yards including a touchdown. The Dolphins running game struggled as Arian Foster ran for 38 yards but he caught 3 passes and Jarvis Landry had 7 receptions. Defensively the Dolphins allowed 352 yards and just 12 points recovering a fumble and grabbing an interception and sacking Russell Wilson 3 times. Reshad Jones was the Dolphins top tackler with 12 and Xavien Howard and Kiko Alonso had 11 each. Miami looked solid on defense but the offense could be a question mark even though they played in a tough building against a ferocious defense in week 1.

New England is 18-7-2 against the spread in their last 27 home games, 1-4-1 against the spread following a win, and 2-5-1 against the spread after passing for over 250 yards in their previous game. Miami is 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 2-6 against the spread in their last 8 games, 3-13 against the spread against the AFC, and 1-8 against the spread against the AFC East. The home team has covered the point spread in the last 8 meetings of these two teams.

The line looks fairly big for what figures to be a defensive game and while the home team has covered for the past four years trends are made to be broken and the Dolphins cover here on the road.
