The Houston Texans and New England Patriots square off Thursday night in a battle between two unbeaten AFC teams at Gillette Stadium on CBS.

The Houston Texans have a chance to get off to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2012 season. Brock Osweiler is completing 60.3 percent of his passes for 499 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. Osweiler has eight touchdown passes in his last five games. Will Fuller and DeAndre Hopkins have combined for 378 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Stephen Anderson has five receptions. The Houston Texans ground game is averaging 113 yards per contest, and Lamar Miller leads the way with 189 yards on 53 carries. Defensively, Houston is allowing 13 points and 274.5 yards per game. Benardrick McKinney leads the Texans with 13 tackles, John Simon has 2.5 sacks and Andre Hal has one interception.

New England Patriots vs. Houston Texans - 9/22/16 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots have a chance to win their 20th regular season game in their last 26 tries. Jacoby Brissett is completing 66.7 percent of his passes for 92 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. Brissett will replace the injured Jimmy Garoppolo and has just nine career pass attempts. Julian Edelman and Martellus Bennett have combined for 270 receiving yards and one touchdown while Chris Hogan has seven receptions. The New England Patriots ground game is averaging 133.5 yards per contest, and LeGarrette Blount leads the way with 193 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, New England is allowing 22.5 points and 401.5 yards per game. Logan Ryan leads the Patriots with 13 tackles, Jamie Collins has one sack and Duron Harmon has one interception.

The Texans are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 Thursday games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Patriots are 19-7-2 ATS in their last 28 home games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in September. The Texans are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.

If there's any team that can still find ways to win with a third-string quarterback, it's the Patriots. The team is so well coached and can never be counted out. However, Brissett is being thrown into the fire and doesn't even have a full week to prepare. Remember, the Dolphins dominated the Pats in the second half last week once Garoppolo went down and nearly came all the way back. The Texans have looked sharp on both sides of the ball and is a team that's won four of their last six road games.

This feels like a sucker bet, but I don't see how anybody can take a third-string quarterback on short rest. Texans win and cover the small line.
