The San Diego Chargers are desperate for a victory after a brutal 1-4 start to the season. The San Diego Chargers have lost at least five games every season since 2010. Philip Rivers is completing 68 percent of his passes for 1,469 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. Rivers has thrown at least two touchdown passes in five of his last eight games. Travis Benjamin and Tyrell Williams have combined for 752 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Hunter Henry has 13 receptions. The San Diego Chargers ground game is averaging 90.4 yards per contest, and Melvin Gordon leads the way with 299 yards and six touchdowns. The Broncos are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Chargers are 3-12 ATS in their last 15 home games and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Broncos are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings in San Diego and the under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
As of right now, I'm going to assume that Siemian isn't playing, so I can't take the Denver Broncos in this game on the road with a rookie quarterback. The Broncos offense did nothing at home last week against a beatable Atlanta defense, so I can't expect much on the road with a quick turnaround. Also, the Chargers are a lot better than their record, as they've had a lot of brutal beats already this season and have competed until falling apart in the fourth quarter. Speaking of competing, the San Diego Chargers always play the AFC West tough and have covered five straight games against teams within their division.
If Lynch is playing QB for the Broncos, I like San Diego to win this game outright. If Siemian is playing, I'll still take my chances with the home team and the free field goal.
