Up at Sports Authority Field in Denver on Sunday, October 30, the San Diego Chargers will be meeting up with the Denver Broncos in Week 8 NFL action.

San Diego comes into this game sporting a 3-4 record this year, and are coming off their second win in a row—a 33-30 OT thriller over the Falcons. In that one, Chargers QB Philip Rivers had a strong day on 27-of-44 passing for 371 yards and a TD, while most of his work went to Tyrell Williams, who finished with seven grabs for 140 yards. Melvin Gordon kept up on the ground game for San Diego with 22 carries for 68 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

So far this season, Rivers is 162-of-245 for 2018 yards and 13 touchdowns, while Gordon leads the Chargers in rushing on 461 yards and eight touchdowns on 138 attempts. Williams is the top dog among San Diego receivers with his 31 receptions, 526 yards and two touchdowns.

Over on the Broncos’ side, they’re sporting a 5-2 record and just finished up with a 27-9 win over the Texans this past Sunday. In that game, Denver QB Trevor Siemian came up with a 14-of-25 line for 157 yards and a TD, while CJ Anderson was great on the ground with 16 carries, 107 yards and a TD for the Broncos. Emmanuel Sanders led Denver in receiving with four catches for 86 yards.

On the year thus far, Siemian is 112-of-176 for 1211 yards and eight scores, while Anderson leads the Broncos in rushing with 110 attempts for 437 yards and four touchdowns. Sanders is tops in the Denver receiving game with 40 receptions for 499 yards and three touchdowns.

The Chargers are 5-0 ATS versus a team with a winning record, and 6-0 ATS in their last six versus the AFC West. San Diego is also 8-1 ATS in their last nine against the AFC, and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 road games.

Meanwhile, the Broncos are 4-0 ATS in their last four games in Week 8, and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven home games. Denver is also 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win, and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six versus the AFC.

No matter the records, games between the Broncos and Chargers are always great to watch. I’ll give San Diego some credit for scoring well this season—they’ve got at least 21 points in each of their seven games so far—but I don’t think they’ll fare so well against Denver’s defense, who has held opponents to 20 points or fewer in every one of their wins. The Broncos were stifled a couple of weeks ago when these two teams met, but I like Denver at home this time.
