The Detroit Lions and Houston Texans meet in a week 8 NFL battle between two 4-3 teams Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium.

The Detroit Lions look to win their fourth straight game and remain in the thick of the NFL wild card race. The Detroit Lions have eight road victories since the 2014 NFL season. Matthew Stafford is completing 68.1 percent of his passes for 1,914 yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions. Stafford has three or more touchdown passes in five of his last eight games. Marvin Jones and Golden Tate have combined for 1,015 receiving yards and five touchdowns while Anquan Boldin has 32 receptions. USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Texans look for some sort of consistency after splitting their last six games. The Houston Texans have won five straight home games, including four this season. Brock Osweiler is completing 58.2 percent of his passes for 1,533 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions. Osweiler has two or less touchdown passes in nine straight games. DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller have combined for 739 receiving yards and five touchdowns while Ryan Griffin has 21 receptions. The Houston Texans ground game is averaging 115.3 yards per contest, and Lamar Miller leads the way with 581 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Houston is allowing 22 points and 320.1 yards per game. Benardrick McKinney leads the Houston Texans with 69 tackles, Whitney Mercilus has 4.5 sacks and John Simon has one forced fumble.

The Lions are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up win and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Texans are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The under is 6-2 in Texans last 8 home games and the under is 15-6 in Lions last 21 road games.

Is anybody ready to say the Detroit Lions are good? Yes, the Lions are one of the hotter teams in the NFL with three straight victories, but all three of Detroit's wins were at home. We have to see the Lions take this sort of effort on the road before buying stock. Now, the Houston Texans aren't exactly good either, but they have won five straight at home and seem to actually look like an NFL team when playing in front of their home fans. The Texans are fade material on the road but that hasn't been the case at home. The Texans also haven't lost back-to-back games yet this season.

So, give me the Houston Texans at home and the small line.
