Down at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, November 6, the NFL’s AFC East will be rocking with a rivalry matchup between the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins in Week 9.

The Jets come into this one at a disappointing 3-5 on the season, but have won their last two games. New York’s last win came this past Sunday against the Browns 31-28. During that game, Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was okay on 16-of-34 for 228 yards and one TD, while Matt Forte did most of the work with 25 carries for 82 yards and two scores. Quincy Enunwa continued his breakout season, leading the New York receivers with four catches for 93 yards and a TD.

USA TODAY Sports

So far this year, Fitzpatrick is 152-of-271 for the Jets, with 1789 yards and a 7:11 TD:INT ratio. Forte leads the charge on the ground with 157 attempts for 542 yards and six scores, while Brandon Marshall is the Jets’ lead receiver with 34 catches for 540 yards and two touchdowns.

Over on the Dolphins’ side, they’re entering play here with a 3-4 record after the bye, but have also won two in a row following a 28-25 affair against the Bills in their last outing. For that game, Miami QB Ryan Tannehill went 15-of-25 for 204 yards and a TD, but RB Jay Ajayi was the big hero on 28 carries, 214 yards and a score. Kenny Stills was the Dolphins’ leading receiver with five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown.

On the season thus far, Tannehill is 139-of-213 for 1728 yards, seven touchdowns and seven picks, while Ajayi is Miami’s lead rusher on 84 attempts for 535 yards and five scores. Jarvis Landry is tops in the Dolphins’ receiving game with 46 catches for 572 yards and one TD.

The Jets are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 versus the AFC East, and 8-3-2 ATS in their last 13 games following an ATS win. New York is also 1-5 ATS in their last six November games, and 1-5 ATS in their last six games on grass.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins are 3-7 in their last 10 games on grass, and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 home games. Miami is also 5-16 ATS versus a team with a losing record, and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 versus the AFC East.

Regardless of the records, Jets-Dolphins games always seem to be competitive, and this one should be fun to watch. That said, the New York secondary is downright terrible this year and is giving up yardage in bushels. The Jets have allowed at least 23 points in seven of their eight games this year—including 28 to the lowly, winless Browns. I expect this game to end 20-something to 20-something with Miami coming out on the winning side thanks to that leaky pass defense.
