Are the St. Louis Rams the Destination for Michael Vick?
Thursday, 04 June 2009 18:31

I think it is.

The St. Louis Rams need a play-maker. They can't always count on Steven Jackson. And Marc Bulger can't be the guys. He has been a failure towards the team.

Yeah, he has been a starter since 2002, but guess what?

Marc Bulger has only started all 16 games in one season only once! Just one time Bulger has started all 16 games in a season. You really want that in your starter? For the past seven seasons, Bulger has been sacked well over 230 times!

Rumors were swirling around the block that the St. Louis Rams are interested in Michael Vick. See what I mean?

Michael Vick has to go to the Rams. They need a bigger play-maker, other than Steven Jackson. Jackson can not carry the load ALL THE TIME.

Torry Holt is gone. Isaac Bruce is gone. Az-Zahir Hakim is gone. Ricky Proehl is gone. Marshall Faulk is gone. Kurt Warner is gone.

The Rams aren't what they used to be.

Their team needs to re-unite like the "Greatest Show on Turf" team they were.

And that kid, Michael Vick, can do that. Sure, the Rams won't be an all-passing team because their play-makers on the receiving side aren't there.

Vick can't fall to San Francisco. Alex Smith or Shaun Hill will obviously end up there. He can't fall to the Seahawks, Matt Hasselbeck or Seneca Wallace will be the main guy there. Raiders? Maybe, but why would they when they got Jeff Garcia and JaMarcus Russell?

Vick's only choice is the St. Louis Rams. This is coming from a Colts/Rams fan (more of a Colts fan) and Vick is needed.

Michael Vick can lay off the load for Steven Jackson.

Marc Bulger won't be needed, he has had poor play lately. Bulger has had a combined total of 22 touchdowns and 28 interceptions in his last two years.

Not what anybody would expect.

He is needed with St. Louis, as I have said many times in this article. Everyone in the sports world doubts his possibilities with any team. Are you kidding me? He has the best potential with a team in need of a QB.

You can say anything you want about Vick, but he deserves a shot with a team. Have you seen his abilities? Let's take a look:

  • An arm nobody can deny
  • The speed no one can be able to stop

Michael Vick was also the first quarterback ever to have more than 2,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards. This is what you call, my friends, talent.

Talent.

Nobody had the talent Vick had. He has had four seasons in which he ran for more than 500 rushing yards. He also had one of the longest QB runs in the NFL history, especially the memorable one against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now you can yap all you want about what he did with dog-fighting, but hey, everyone has done mistakes. People have done much much worse than what Vick did, and nothing happened to them.

Donte Stallworth killed a man. Leonard Little having a blood alcohol level, twice the limit and was driving 78 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour speed limit. Jared Allen was arrested three times for DUI. Jeramy Stevens was arrested for rape. And Chris Henry has been arrested FIVE TIMES!

You think Vick's was worse?

I don't think so.

Please give Vick a chance. How did Vick NOT learn his lesson? He has been in jail for more than 20 months for crying out loud!

Vick may not be a team player, but he can be a play-maker.

And that is all what the Rams need. For the team to go back towards their winning ways, Michael Vick is the answer. He can be the future.

People say he can't perform well because he hasn't played for two years. Well he has been playing football in jail and heck, he is only 28 years old! A lot left in the tank, could play for ten or eleven more years!

Then you say he isn't good in passing. Well sure, he does a 75.7 rating, but he can WIN GAMES FOR YOU! Look at Peyton Manning or Dan Marino, they had all the stats but aren't the type of playoff-type guys that can win games for you.

Vick can destroy on pass and running, don't get me wrong. You have to believe that. And with Vick scrambling and passing around, that could leave some room for Steven Jackson to run over defenses when the defense is already tired with chasing after Mike Vick.

And at least he isn't one of those quarterbacks who have more interceptions than touchdowns in their career. How can you say Vick is a bad quarterback?

Take a look at this: Compare Vick towards Vince Young. Let's take a look at the touchdowns, interceptions, and passer rating:

Michael Vick: 71 touchdowns and 52 interceptions, 75.7 rating

Vince Young: 22 touchdowns and 32 interceptions, 68.8 rating

So many of you say that Young is a GOOD quarterback and say Vick is bad. Explain to me why? That's just unacceptable there. Nobody talks about Young being a bad quarterback. It's just stupid. Just plain stupid.

Vick can turn around this Rams team, and he will. He will. Believe me. Once Roger Goodell reinstates Vick, there will be a team looking for Vick. It may not be the Rams, which looks like the best destination, but there will be a team looking for Vick.

It won't matter what team he'll be playing on or what league he'll be playing in. He will make a difference towards the squad.

And like Barack Obama, there will be change.

My Exclusive Interview with Jerel Myers
Friday, 05 June 2009 16:18

Hey guys. I am now back with another interview. My last interview was about three months ago with Cal Poly cornerback, Scottie Cordier. I was so blessed to have that interview with him and now I am more blessed.

I was just looking up some players from the BC Lions roster. One of my favorite CFL players, Jerel Myers, was one of the names I looked up on Google. I was just scrolling through and found out he had a Facebook account.

Then I though for a second. What if it's just some fake account that a person with no life would make just so he could get some attention? Well, guess what? It wasn't. Not at all. If you look at it, you'll believe me.

I then contacted Jerel as I sent him a message on Facebook. I asked him if I could do an interview with him and I couldn't believe it...he said yes. I was so glad a player from a professional football league would like to be interviewed my some young and aspiring journalist.

Jerel Myers was one of my favorite players. I always checked out his highlights so it can help me be a good tight end in football, and it works! Myers gladly answered the questions with me.

I only gave him seven questions to answer because I didn't want to be a bother with him.

But first, when I show you that, let me give you a little background on this kid.

Myers was a standout from LSU. In 2003, he came out of college. He was labeled as undrafted for the NFL and was signed with the Bills. He played with them from 2003-2004. He then moved on with the Washington Redskins in 2005 but couldn't find success there either.

Finally, there came hope for this kid that had talent for a team. In 2005, he went on to play for the BC Lions of the CFL. He played there and in his first season, he had 36 catches for 473 yards and posted also posted two touchdowns.

He later left the Lions to play for the New Orleans VooDoo of the AFL after the 2005 season. But when Hurricane Katrina struck, he had to play for the new expansion team, the Kansas City Brigade. Myers proved he was a star their, ending his career in the AFL in 2008.

In 2009, Myers returned to the BC Lions, hoping to make a future with the team. I expect Myers to have a great season this year and hopefully getting some great passes from quarterback, Buck Pierce.

You know Jerel Myers now?

Here is the ultimate interview with BC Lions wide receiver, Jerel Myers:

Josh Dhani: What's it like returning to the BC Lions?

Jerel Myers: Its going to be exciting going back to BC. I see I have another opportunity to take care of my business so I'm going to take advantage of it.

JD: Did you ever dream of playing in the NFL?

JL:Everyone has dreams of the NFL. But things don't always go as you would plan for them to. Ive had a few opportunities but I just couldn't capitalize on them.

JD: What's it like playing with star, Geroy Simon?

JL: Geroy Simon is a great player. He taught me a lot about the CFL game just that one year when I was there. I love to see him play. I still kept up with his play even after I left.

JD: Are you going to miss playing in the Arena Football League?

JL: I'm going to miss the AFL a lot. Playing in that league for the past four years makes you used to a certain type of game and style. It was fun and I hope it comes back.

JD: I heard you actually played in the NFL. You played with the Bills from 2003-2004 and the Redskins in 2005. What was it like there?

JL: It was a good experience. Met a lot of good athletes and good people in general. I hope I get the opportunity again.

JD: What do you when it is the off-season?

JL: In the off season I coach football and substitute at my old high school. That's what I want to do once I finish playing football. I enjoy it as much as they enjoy me being out there with them.

JD: What are your goals for this season with the BC Lions?

JL: I only have one goal this season and that is to help the BC Lions win THE GREY CUP! I don't want nothing more or nothing less.

Good luck this year Jerel. Is wish you all the best. GO LIONS!

Will This Year's New York Jets End Up Like the 2007's Cleveland Browns?
Monday, 15 June 2009 10:40

A lot of people probably haven’t noticed this but I have.

Don’t you remember the 2007 Cleveland Browns? Well, let’s start from the beginning. The Browns drafted a hot shot quarterback in Brady Quinn. The Browns expected him to be a huge star towards the squad, now that their other two quarterbacks didn’t meet their goals with the franchise (Charlie Frye and Tim Couch).

After a successful career in college, Quinn was drafted 22nd overall by the Browns and they looked to have a future with him. It didn’t look a quarterback battle would be decided but Romeo Crennel insisted on it because he thought Derek Anderson had something in him.

He was coming off an okay year but they decided to use Anderson and Quinn in a battle for the starting job.

NFL: NOV 06 Broncos at Browns

Derek Anderson won of course and the city of Cleveland also knew that Quinn was the second-stringer due to the fact that he may learn something from D.A. With Anderson at starter, fans were questionable about the 2007 Cleveland Browns’ season.

But the fans were impressed with Anderson’s abilities as he built a team around superstars like Jamal Lewis, Lawrence Vickers, Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow, and Joe Jurevicius.

The Browns went on towards a 10-6 record and the city of Cleveland smelled a playoff berth for the first time since 2002 when they went 9-7.

The Browns didn’t make the playoffs, because of the Tennessee Titans 17-14 win over the Indianapolis Colts to guarantee Tennessee a playoff berth. If the Colts had won that game, the Browns would have their first playoff berth since 2002.

The Browns didn’t get it. But now here we are looking at the same exact thing with the New York Jets. I can literally see this happen. Let’s check out the comparisons with this.

Well, Kellen Clemens was coming off a pretty bad season as he had zero touchdowns and one interception for 26 yards including a 34.2 quarterback rating. He did play some games in the 2007 season, however, and did pretty good filling in for Chad Pennington in some games.

Let’s compare that with Derek Anderson before he started the 2007 season. Anderson was coming off a pretty bad season and did start some games. He had five touchdowns and eight interceptions for 793 yards with a 63.1 quarterback rating.

The comparison is a pretty similar, don’t you think? And people are still questioning Kellen Clemens this year by saying he could start or not. That is exactly what happened with Derek Anderson in 2007.

See that?

Now let’s check out the first round draft pick. Well for the Jets, they picked up Mark Sanchez as their fifth overall pick and they expect Sanchez to be the starting quarterback this year and be the future of the franchise.

Now let’s compare that to the 2007 Cleveland Browns.

Baltimore Ravens v Cleveland Browns

Well, the Cleveland Browns drafted Brady Quinn 22nd overall in the 2007 NFL Draft, looking to have a future franchise quarterback for the years to come. They looked at him as the next best quarterback since Trent Dilfer to lead their franchise to some wins.

So you see where I am getting here.

Now let’s check out their weapons, starting with the running backs. Let’s see what the Jets have this year, for running backs.

The Jets already have two decent backs to use: Thomas Jones and Leon Washington. The Jets also picked up a star from Iowa, Shonn Greene, to be a helpful back with Thomas Jones to make a one-two punch while Washington is looking for a new contract and probably might just be a return specialist for the team.

They also have a respectable running back in Danny Woodhead who is considered as a “speedy” back and looks to become a punt returner towards the squad.

Now let’s compare that to the Cleveland Browns.

Well, after struggling to find backs after looking at Lee Suggs and many other players, they have finally found a running back in Jamal Lewis, picked up from the Ravens and was a player part of the 2,000 rushing yards club.

Then there was Jerome Harrison and Jason Wright to help out Lewis (now that he was aging) and they did a solid job at it.

It’s very similar, yes, I know.

Let’s get to the other weapons of the offense, like wide receivers.

The New York Jets have five guys to throw to help them out on offense. One you can name right off the bat: Jerricho Cotchery. He has been great last year

New York Jets v Philadelphia Eagles

and looks to become the leader of the receivers.

Then you got Brad Smith and Chansi Stuckey who are improving and look to become stars on the offense in the future. And then the two tight ends that’ll help out greatly: Bubba Franks and Dustin Keller.

Now let’s compare that to the 2007 Cleveland Browns.

The Browns also have five good guys to throw to. Two you can name right off the bat: Braylon Edwards and Joe Jurevicius. Then you got Tim Carter who looks to help the offense greatly and here comes Josh Cribbs, who was a standout at quarterback in college but wanted to be a receiver in the NFL. He is also a dangerous returner.

Then you got the son of the Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow: Kellen Winslow II. He is a great tight end but has been experiencing injuries.

Look how close these comparables are!

Now let’s see the quarterback battle.

The Jets have a battle between Mark Sanchez and Kellen Clemens. Sanchez got a pretty big deal, biggest in NY’s franchise history, so he looks to become a starter anyways. Not really. Sure, he performed well in the OTA’s but my blog reported that the coaches say that if they were to start a quarterback right now, it would be Kellen Clemens.

And why wouldn’t they?

They have to because Clemens has learned from the best: Brett Favre and Chad Pennington. They have improved his game greatly and I don’t think he’ll give it up. Give Sanchez a year off so he can learn from a kid that has some

New York Jets Minicamp

experience.

Now let’s compare it to Cleveland.

The Browns had, obviously, a battle between Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn (and with Ken Dorsey, no, just kidding). Many fans believed in Quinn but Anderson was named the starter. And why wouldn’t he?

He spent his first two years doing nothing but learn from Dilfer and Frye and he probably got a little better at least. He was named the starter and didn’t let anyone down.

Comparable, right? I think so.

So now you get what I am seeing. I don’t want to go any further because both of these defenses are pretty similar (they also both have a 3-4 defense as well).

I expect the Jets to go 11-5 this season with a new coach in Rex Ryan who’ll improve the defense greatly with a new additions like Bart Scott (duh). I think Kellen Clemens will be named the starter and he will not let people down.

Hopefully, he might not end up like Derek Anderson, who is still in competition with Quinn again this year and now has lost his faith with the team.

Kellen Clemens might have about 2,000 to 3,000 passing yards and about 15-25 touchdowns and about ten-to-20 interceptions this year.

It’s going to be an exciting year for the Jets this year, and hey, they may end up like the 2007 Browns with so many close comparisons.

Hopefully, they’ll make the playoffs.

And with what I wrote, I may actually be right.

Minnesota Vikings: Don't Get Brett Favre, Tarvaris Jackson Is The Answer
Tuesday, 16 June 2009 16:09

Brett Favre is surely going to be the on the Minnesota Vikings roster, now that he is gotten surgery on his throwing shoulder and a Vikings assistant will be coming to Favre to do some workouts with him to help his shoulder.

So, you get it: Favre will obviously be on the Vikings roster, no doubt.

I don't know what's next for Favre after he leaves Minnesota, because he will after one year and go on to these teams.

So here's my question to all of you fans for the NFL team in the purple uniform: why would you want a losing-his-luster quarterback like Brett Favre for one year, when you can get an improving quarterback like Tarvaris Jackson for many years to come?

Why Brad Childress, why?

Have you seen what Favre has done with the Jets. When the Jets were at an 8-3 record last year, they went 1-4 after that. In that span of five games in which Favre didn't play well, you could see him just throwing the ball up in the air.

It turned out he didn't look like having fun, not one single bit. He was just playing with negative attitude. And you know the saying in sports that you have to bring "ten percent effort and ninety percent attitude?"

Well, Favre was zero percent in both of those categories, to be honest.

There's no point of having Brett Favre. Sure, he will be pretty good but he might be ruining his legacy if he comes to Minnesota. He's already a Hall-of-Famer, what's the point of keep playing.

I know, Joe Gibbs did that when he was a coach, but that's coaching man! That's coaching!

Brett Favre might as well play for all 32 NFL teams. But there is some good bringing Favre to Minnesota. A good writer on this site (one of my favorites), James Williamson, has said something that was very interesting if Favre came to Minnesota.

Williamson observed that Favre will be the first ever quarterback in NFL history to beat all 32 NFL teams!

Pretty sweet, huh?

But seriously, that's not the point!

Now you'll see Sage Rosenfels swapping faces. If you don't get what I am saying, please take a look.

But also, what's the point having Rosenfels, too?

You all remember his helicopter hurdle against the Indianapolis Colts last year that cost Houston the win (And Schaub's smiling face. His face when Rosenfels fumbled is priceless!).

And Rosenfels second battle against the Colts when he costs Houston a win (again) when he was looking for a receiver and then just decided to throw right at Colts' safety, Melvin Bullit.

Rosenfels will create a problem in Minnesota, I guarantee it (don't go Joe Namath now!). But here is what the Vikings should do:

USE TARVARIS JACKSON!!!!

That's right. Use T-Jax. Tarvaris will be the man for Minnesota, he will. Well, that's what I think. Sure, he wasn't successful in his first two years, having a total of eleven touchdowns and 16 touchdowns.

But in his third year, after being on the bench, learning from a veteran in Gus Frerotte who became the starter. But then, Frerotte got injured and then here came Jackson who everyone doubted.

In one game in which I believe was against the Arizona Cardinals, Jackson had a spectacular game by throwing for four touchdowns while having 163 yards and an amazing 135.5 quarterback rating.

He also had a great game before that, throwing for 105 yards with one touchdown for a 143.8 quarterback rating.

Solid, huh?

In his last four games of the 2008 season, Jackson's lowest quarterback rating was 88.5 in that four-game span. Here's what his total was during those four games:

740 passing yards, eight touchdowns and one interception for a 116.5 quarterback rating.

Now those are very good stats. You can't disagree there. And all of that happen after being benched from learning from Frerotte.

Jackson had 1,056 passing yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions for a 95.4 quarterback rating.

Jackson is a solid quarterback.

But he needed to be benched so he could learn better and not take so much criticism. With the 2008 season closing, the Vikes looked like they couldn't make the playoffs with Frerotte out and T-Jax in.

They did, though.

Sure, Jackson didn't win his first playoff game but not everyone does when they go for the first time. The only person I know has done that is probably Tom Brady, no one else. Peyton Manning didn't get it.

Not everyone gets their first playoff win. People expect too much out of Tarvaris Jackson. You have to give him time, this kid has a future. And with the pick of Percy Harvin, the Jackson can have more helpful guys to throw to.

And Jackson is ready now. I observed something. Here's what happened in the first three games Jackson played in, before being benched from the veteran of Gus Frerotte:

316 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception for a 77.4 quarterback rating.

Now if you scroll up, you'll see a major difference between when he started his first three games without learning from a veteran quarterback and the stats after he was benched by a veteran quarterback.

Big ass difference.

Jackson is ready and could be a star from years to come. No Rosenfels or Favre.

Tarvaris Jackson is here to stay.

So Vikings fans, what would you have: An old quarterback who will only stay with the team for one year and will only come to the Vikings to bring revenge on his old team or bring in a quarterback who is detirmened and will be a great quarterback for years to come?

You decide, and the time is...now!
