The Detroit Red Wings will look for their third win in as many games as they continue their road trip in Boston on Saturday night.
The Red Wings head into this season with tons of expectations placed on them as many have them coming out of the Eastern Conference and through two games thus far they are perfect notching wins against the Sabres and Hurricanes. Detroit fell out of contention in the early part of the postseason last year but with the acquisition of Daniel Alfredsson and Stephen Weiss and goaltender Jimmy Howard having another offseason to work out the kinks, the Wings look like a solid bet on any given night. They head into Boston to take on the Bruins who upended the Lightning in their season opener on Thursday night and the Wings will have to be focused after playing in Carolina and going to a shootout last night. Howard is slated to go here for the Wings who counter with Finnish netminder Tuukka Rask who is thriving as the Bruins number one option.

Boston is one of the other handful of teams that prognosticators are slating to come out of the Eastern Conference and for good reason as they have one of the deepest teams in the league and have some added motivation based on the way things ended last year. The Bruins added Jarome Iginla and Loui Eriksson in the offseason to go with a stacked offensive arsenal and with Chara and the gang on the blue line and Rask between the pipes it is tough to find a team as built for the postseason as the B’s. Boston was a little bit underwhelming in their season debut but I think they respond in a big way in this one and despite the Wings’ changes they’re still an older team and I think it might take them some time to catch their legs against a well-rested Bruins squad seething to get back into the action. I like the Bruins here and it might be worth a look to lay them in regulation.
