The struggling New York Rangers continue their road trip in St. Louis on Saturday night as they take on a Blues team who has yet to lose a game this season.

The New York Rangers have been a staple of the Eastern Conference over the past few seasons as they’re always in the conversation of Cup contenders and this year was no different under the new direction of Alain Vigneault. However, the Rangers are off to a terrible start as they have lost three of their first four contests and the last two have come in embarrassing fashion as the Sharks and Ducks took turns pummelling the Blue Shirts in back to back nights. New York will look to regain some confidence and respect with a big victory in St. Louis against one of the league’s best teams who is riddled with confidence at the moment. Rick Nash will not be playing for the Rangers in this one as he sustained an injury at the hands of Brad Stuart earlier this week which is a huge blow to New York’s offensive plans.

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

St. Louis has been a team quietly on the rise over the last handful of seasons and now with their young core getting a year more of experience this appears to be the season where it is Cup or bust for the Blues. Led by Kevin Shattenkirk and Alex Pietrangelo on the blue line and a whole slew of contributors up front the Blues are a tough out every night of the week and if they can continue to get stellar goaltending they will be very tough to beat this season. While I am tempted to look at the Rangers to bounce back in this spot after two complete abominations I don’t see it ending too well here against a very talented Blues team. The value isn’t with St. Louis but I think playing them in regulation or the puck line is a relatively safe play.
