The Edmonton Oilers kick off their Eastern swing in Toronto as the red hot Maple Leafs look for another victory, this time on home ice.

The Oilers are once again off to a sloppy start as they have lost three of their first four contests and have been pelted with goals in the process, losing to Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Montreal in pretty convincing fashion. The Oil are hoping that a trip Eastward will get them back in the win column beginning with a date with the Leafs at the Air Canada Centre heading into Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Edmonton without question has a lot of talent up front as they have accumulated a ton of draft picks over the past few seasons but their play from the back end still has its question marks and the play in the crease is the biggest of all. Head coach Dallas Eakins is willing to give projected starter Devan Dubnyk another shot to earn his keep but he has been dismal this season posting a 5.28 GAA to go along with an 0-3 record.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Edmonton Oilers - 10/12/13

Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports

Toronto leads the Eastern Conference at the moment and they have looked brilliant to start the season and are coming off a 4-0 victory over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night. Jonathan Bernier recorded his first shutout of the season and the Leafs took full advantage of Nashville miscues and now heading home they’ll look to keep that momentum going and send the Oilers to yet another victory. While I am very cautious in games where the Leafs are playing at home against opponents they rarely see (we called the Avs to win at the ACC earlier this week) due to a large number of visiting players being from the Toronto area I think this one is a different story as the Buds are just a better club and will be able to push the Oilers around physically. It wouldn’t shock me if Edmonton won but until they can show on a consistent basis that they’re worth backing I am going the other way. Take Toronto.
