The Line: Washington Capitals -142 / New York Rangers +129 --- Over/Under: 5.5 See the Latest Odds

On Saturday night the New York Rangers played a much better game than the two previous ones where they were outscored by a comined score of 15-2. Their biggest proble was that backup goaltender Martin Biron couldn't make a save in the second period, allowing three goals on just five shots. Subsequently, Biron was waived on Monday and the Rangers will turn back to Henrik Lundqvist in Washington as they look to end this season opening slump. They were able to dictate play at times against the Blues but there were still too many turnovers and too many stupid penalties from Derek Dorsett. New York needs to play a clean game and find a way to build some confidence. Until they do however it's hard to trust them. Their opponent in Washington is off to a slow start as well this season but they bounced back after getting clobbered by the Colorao Avalanche with a 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers. Alexander Ovechkin scored his sixth goal of the season and Joel Ward and Troy Brouwer also scored during a three goal second period that lifted the Capitals to victory. Braden Holtby made 28 saves in the win. These two teams know each other about as well as any team in the league and now that they're in the same division they'll get to see each other even more. New York has had a bit of a leg up but with the way they're playing right now it's hard to gamble on them until they show us they can get in the win column with a strong effort.
