The Anaheim Ducks and Columbus Blue Jackets meet at Nationwide Arena as two of the hotter teams in the league square off.
The Ducks are one of the best teams in the league at the moment as they have raced out to an 8-3 mark and aside from a two game hiccup in Toronto and Montreal, Anaheim has been untouchable. The Ducks have tons of firepower up front led by Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Saku Koivu, and Teemu Selanne and while it did take a hit losing Jakub Silfverberg for a month the Ducks have more than enough talent to fill the void. Jonas Hiller gets the call in the Ducks’ crease as he has cemented himself as the team’s number one starter and he has been brilliant so far this season. Hiller will have to be on point in this one though as he matches up against Sergei Bobrovsky who has enjoyed a renaissance in Columbus over the past few seasons after leaving Philadelphia and is the reigning Vezina Trophy winner.

Columbus has shocked a lot of people with their play this season as they’re right in the mix in the Metropolitan division but it shouldn’t come as much of a shock as they finished last season as one of the best second half teams and almost made the postseason. Columbus is expected to make a push and challenge for the playoffs again this season and through 10 games so far they are sitting at .500 but do hold a winning record at home. This is one of the toughest games to call I think all season long as the teams are very close and the goaltending is a wash. Columbus has played decent at home and the Ducks are better in Anaheim than on the road but played really well against the Senators in their last contest. Ultimately, I think Anaheim is the better team and they’re getting odds here as a slight underdog and that is just too good to pass up.
