The San Jose Sharks look to continue their winnings ways on the road as they head into Ottawa to take on the Senators at Scotiabank Place.
The Sharks dropped their first regulation contest of the season on the road on Thursday against the Boston Bruins but had to quickly put the speed bump out of their minds as they faced off against a Canadiens team who had been playing some inspired hockey. The Sharks however had a different game plan as they went into the Bell Centre and blanked the Canadiens by a 2-0 mark last night and while the Habs were shorthanded due to a number of injuries it was San Jose’s night as they dominated the contest. Logan Couture had his best game of the year notching both goals for the black and teal and he will look to play a factor once again this time in Ottawa. Alex Stalock is slated to make his NHL debut as league wins leader ANtii Niemi gets the night off.

The Senators meanwhile have been mediocre this season sporting a modest 4-4-2 record through their first ten games but to cut them some slack they have played 7 of 10 games on the road. The Sens were supposed to make yet another jump forward this season as they have gone from projected bottom feeder to playoff contenders but this season with a healthy Erik Karlsson and the addition of Bobby Ryan the Sens were pegged to be Cup contenders. While the season is still young and the Sens have plenty of time to turn things around it appears as though the underdog card is where they flourished and now with expectations being higher they have fallen short. However, this is a nice spot for Ottawa to make a statement as they play at home against a very good Sharks team but Ottawa has a huge advantage in goal as Craig Anderson is matched up against a rookie making his league debut and I think the Sens make it memorable for Stalock but for all the wrong reasons.
