The Stars and Canadiens meet in Montreal as both teams are coming off Monday night victories on the road.

The Stars completed a task Monday night that several others have accomplished as well this season and that is defeat the Buffalo Sabres. Dallas held off a surge from the Sabres at the First Niagara Centre to secure a 4-3 decision that was almost spoiled by the excellent Sabres’ debut of Matt Moulson who was just acquired by the Islanders. Dallas now continue their road trip in Montreal as Kari Lehtonen looks to get his club back up the league standings but will go toe to toe with Carey Price who had last night off in New York. Dallas can move above .500 for the season with a victory here but they have struggled to win games on the road and things won’t get any easier at the Bell Centre.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Dallas Stars - 10/29/13

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

Montreal spoiled the long anticipated home opener of the New York Rangers last night and while they surely gloated at the end of the game they need to shift their focus to the Stars on the plane ride home. Montreal has been playing very well of late which is great to see considering how many of their key players are out with injuries. The Habs can move into a tie for first in the Eastern Conference with a victory here and while their home play has actually been their downfall this season you can expect a pretty raucous crowd here tonight. While I think the Stars are an underrated team that will upset a lot of big names this year I just don’t like the position they have here as Price to me is the better goaltender and is coming in well rested. The value here certainly sides with Dallas on the side but I think the better play is on the total and with both teams playing in a back to back and both goalies playing very well I think the under is the only option here.
