The Line: Buffalo Sabres +134 / Anaheim Ducks -147 --- Over/Under: 5 See the Latest Odds
The Sabres host the Ducks on Saturday looking for any kind of boost as they hold the league’s worst record at 2-12-1 and have lost back to back games.
The Anaheim Ducks are once again quietly piecing together a very fast start to the season, something they did last year as well but was overlooked by Chicago’s record breaking start. Anaheim is a very solid team that is coached by an underrated bench boss in Bruce Boudreau who seems to be flourishing in his new (ish) role in California after being sacked in Washington. The Ducks will be looking to avenge an overtime loss and grab their 11th win of the season and heading into Buffalo where the hometown Sabres are a paltry 0-7-1 on the season this looks like as good a place as any for the Ducks to do so. Jonas Hiller gets the call for Anaheim while Ryan Miller goes for the Sabres.

Buffalo has already cashed in their chips for this season as they dealt their highest paid player and pending unrestricted free agent in Thomas Vanek this week and it won’t be long before more pieces start to fall in Buffalo. The Sabres have had huge struggles in the offensive zone which have been well documented and are the sole reason why they are where they are as goaltenders Ryan Miller and Jhonas Enroth have actually played pretty well. Miller will be auditioning not only for a new team this season but for a contract next season as well as a spot on the US Men’s Olympic team as he vies for the starter’s role with Jimmy Howard and Jonathan Quick. While there is no sense in taking the Ducks on the moneyline based on the value I will side with the total as I think both teams will struggle to score here and the goalie steal the show with equally impressive games that I can see the Sabres winning.
