TV:

Last night was a quiet one in the NHL; there were only two games on the schedule. That said, we’re heading in the complete opposite direction in the coming hours, as 18 teams will be out on the ice this evening. While we’re waiting on those games to start, let’s take a closer look at the noteworthy names out there and see what everyone’s talking about.

Corey Perry, RW, Anaheim Ducks: Perry got into the action early in the first period last night against the Rangers, posting a goal in the eventual 2-1 victory. That gives Perry nine goals to go along with his seven helpers on the season.
Also of note was net-minder Frederik Andersen, who posted 33 saves in his fourth win of the year since his call-up. Kyle Palmieri added the game-winner in the second period.
Looking ahead, the Ducks have a pair of home games to finish out this week. They’ll host Phoenix on Wednesday and the Sabres on Friday.

Michael Frolik, RW, Winnipeg Jets: Frolik has been pretty productive over the past two games, and last night that productivity helped the Jets secure a win. He managed a goal and an assist in the 4-2 victory over the Red Wings, spoiling their potentially perfect road trip through Canada. Also pitching in were Mark Schieifele (two assists) and Bryan Little (one goal, one assist).
Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard had a busy night, stopping 43 of 47 shots.
Next up for the Jets is a trip to Chicago tomorrow night, followed by a home game against the Predators on Friday to close out the week.

Current NHL Leaders: Given the thin schedule last night, it’s a good time to check in on the statistical leaders in some of the important categories around the NHL. There’s a lot of hockey left to be played, so it remains to be seen whether or not these trends will hold.
