The Senators look for just their second victory on home ice this season when they host the Montreal Canadiens at Scotiabank Place on Thursday night.

The Canadiens head into Ottawa coming off a loss in a shootout against the Blues on Tuesday night - a game in which they played very well and could have come away with two points. Carey Price played very well in the Canadiens crease and he will return to the net in this one against the Senators who will counter with Robin Lehner as starter Craig Anderson is still nursing a head injury. The Habs have actually played pretty well on the road this season as they’re 4-3 away from the Bell Centre and with the Senators being a dreadful home team this looks like a decent spot for the Canadiens. However, there has been growing tension between Canadiens coach Michel Therien and star defenseman PK Subban and it is becoming public knowledge that they don’t have the greatest working relationship and it’ll be interesting to see if they can keep those distractions at bay.

Ottawa Senators vs. Montreal Canadiens - 11/7/13

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The Senators ended an ugly slide in Columbus on Tuesday as they pasted Blue Jackets’ backup Curtis McIlhenny and can make it back to back victories with a home ice nod over the Canadiens. The Sens can also jump back to the .500 mark with a win and move closer to the Canadiens in the standings but with a larger than normal visitors support on tap as the Montreal fans will surely be out in full force it might be a difficult task to win on home ice. Robin Lehner is surely the goalie of the future in Ottawa which is why they could afford to deal Ben Bishop a couple years ago and while he looked great against the Blue Jackets he will have to be even better here. For what it’s worth I am going to side with the road team here as I think Price makes the difference and gets the Canadiens a much needed victory.
