NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on Steen, Sharp, tonight's TV schedule and more
November 10, 2013
We hockey fans were pretty busy yesterday, with a heavy slate of games happening around the NHL. Today will be a pretty good one too, as there will be 14 teams in action during the coming hours. Before those pucks drop, let’s take a look at some of the league’s headlines and notable players to see what we should be expecting in the near future. Here’s the latest.
Claude Giroux, C, Philadelphia Flyers: It’s been a long, long time for Giroux. He notched his first goal of the season last night--and his first in the past 21 games--in a 4-2 win over Edmonton. It was his eighth point of the season. The four goals were a good sign for Philly’s offense, which has struggled at times in the early-going.
Giroux and company will be back in action in a road trip this week. Things will start out in Ottawa on Tuesday, then Pittsburgh on Wednesday and Winnipeg Friday.

Tuukka Rask, G, Boston Bruins: Rask has had a pretty good stretch of games lately, and his latest came last night against Toronto. He bagged 33 saves on 34 shots in the 3-1 win, bringing his season-long record to 9-4. In his most recent two appearances, Rask is 2-0 with two goals allowed and a combined 56 saves.
This week, the Bruins will host Tampa Bay tomorrow and Columbus on Thursday before hitting the road to Ottawa on Friday.
Alexander Steen, LW, St. Louis Blues: Steen didn’t bag another goal last night against the Penguins, but he did manage a point. He posted an assist--his seventh of the year--in the 2-1 win, extending an impressive points streak that’s the envy of wingers around the league. Steen has 14 goals on the year.
Looking ahead, the Blues have a trio of home games this week. Starting Tuesday, they’ll host Phoenix, then the Avalanche on Thursday and Carolina on Saturday.
Patrick Sharp, LW, Chicago Blackhawks: If you’re looking for assists, Sharp has a few to spare. He picked up a whopping four helpers in the Blackhawks’ 5-2 win in Dallas last night, which gives him six points in just his last two games. Sharp has been cooking lately, and now has four goals and 11 assists on the year.
After tonight’s game at home against Edmonton, the Blackhawks will get a few days off. They’ll pick it back up again on Thursday when the Coyotes come to town, then finish off the week in Nashville on Saturday.
NHL Daily Schedule: We’ll get seven games in the NHL today, but we have to wait until the evening before anything gets started. Here’s a look at the full schedule, as well as the start times and TV networks you can catch the games on.
