The Sabres and Maple Leafs complete the back end of a home and home with the Sabres looking to sweep the series after taking the first leg in Buffalo last night.
The Sabres have been the centre of the hockey universe this week as they blew things up in the front office replacing both head coach Ron Rolston and General Manager Darcy Regier and replacing them with two names very well known to Sabres fans, Ted Nolan and Pat Lafontaine. It is clear that the Sabres are cleaning house and that is more than just in the front office it has been and will continue to be on the ice as well as they have already moved Thomas Vanek and there is a strong possibility that Ryan Miller is soon to follow. Buffalo played a very good game in Nolan’s debut but there is always something to say about a team playing in the first game of a new era. However, the Sabres always seem to play the Leafs tough no matter the circumstance and we saw it once again last night. The Sabres will look to complete the home and home sweep with a huge, confidence boosting win on Saturday night at the ACC.

The Maple Leafs return home looking to avenge last night’s loss and they’ll need someone to step up offensively as the once feard Maple Leafs attack is beginning to dwindle. The loss of Nazem Kadri was felt last night as the Leafs were already without Tyler Bozak and David Bolland and now with Kadri serving his second game of a three game ban for running over Wild goaltender Nik Backstrom the Leafs’ depth down the middle will be tested once again. Jonathan Bernier continues to play well in the Leafs’ crease and he always gives them a chance to win but the Buds will go with James Reimer tonight and you can bet he will be motivated as it seems as though he has lost his grasp as the team’s starter. While I am very tempted to take the Sabres here once again as they are bound to put up another good fight I actually like the fact that Reimer is playing in this one and I think he shows up in a big way and the Leafs skate away with two points.
