The Canucks hope a trip away from Vancouver will be the cure to their subpar performance of late as they head to Ottawa to take on the Senators.
Vancouver is always considered a favourite in the Western Conference and while they have shown signs of brilliance at times this season these don’t seem like the Vancouver Canucks we have grown accustomed to over the years. Vancouver is in the midst of a 2-4-4 slump in their last 10 contests which is something I don’t think I have seen in the last few years from them and you can be sure that head coach John Tortorella is doing everything he can to fire up the team in the dressing room. While the Sedin’s continue to produce though it’s not at the level we are used to seeing either the secondary scoring from the Canucks is non-existent and is something they need to rectify in a hurry if they’re going to contend with the powers of the Western Conference.

The Senators are following the same path as their Thursday night counterparts as they too have struggled this season despite coming off an impressive road win at the Verizon Centre last night. Ottawa had a ton of expectations this season and while Bobby Ryan, the key asset acquired in a trade with the Ducks in the offseason is living up to his billing the team hasn’t been able to fill the void left by Daniel Alfredsson. Craig Anderson has also been scrutinized for his play this year after back to back seasons of Vezina worthy play and while he got the win in Washington last night it looks like Sens brass is leaning towards the young Robin Lehner moving forward. Either way this should be an exciting game between two struggling teams and while the Sens got into a shootout last night with the Caps I think we see the offense continue to flourish here as both teams find the back of the net with ease.
