The Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals meet in NHL action from Capital One Arena on Saturday night.

The Montreal Canadiens will be out to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to Detroit last time out, falling to 1-1 on the year. Cole Caufield has a team-high 2 goals and Nick Suzuki has a pair of assists while Sean Monahan and Josh Anderson each have a goal this season. Jordan Harris, David Savard and Kirby Dach each have a goal as well for the Habs up to this point in the year.

The Washington Capitals will hope to bounce back and snag their first win after falling to 0-2 with a 3-2 loss to Toronto last time out. Nic Dowd has a pair of points with a goal and an assist while Erik Gustafsson has a pair of assists. Conor Sheary, Marcus Johansson and Anthony Mantha each have a goal while Trevor van Riemsdyk, Lars Eller and T.J. Oshie each have an assist as well this season.

Montreal is 7-21 in their last 28 games against the Metropolitan division and 2-5 in their last 7 games played on no rest while the over is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. Washington is 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 5-0 in their last 5 Saturday games while the over is 8-3-2 in their last 13 home games.

I get the case to be made either way here, but I’m backing the over. These are two teams with some serious goaltending issues and I don’t want to back either side in that case but I do trust both teams to get on the score sheet. The last three meetings averaged well over eight goals combined per game and I think we see something similar here, so give me the over.
