The Canadiens and Maple Leafs square off at the Bell Centre with both teams looking to make up some ground in the Atlantic division standings.

The Maple Leafs head into Montreal on Saturday night in the midst of an ugly skid in which they dropped a 6-0 decision to the underwhelming Columbus Jackets, blew a three goal lead against the Pittsburgh Penguins and lost, and worst of all dropped an overtime decision to the basement dwelling Sabres last night. Toronto needs to right the ship and quick before they find themselves spiralling out of control as they have now slipped into 5th place in the division and trail their opponents tonight in terms of a head to head tie breaker. Goaltending has been a strong point all year for the Buds but the last three games have been a bit shaky and while the decision on who starts is up in the air all signs point to a Jonathan Bernier sighting at the Bell Center.

The Canadiens meanwhile are going the other way having won 6 of their last 10 and earning points in two more of those as they have met the Leafs in the standings and will look to surpass them here with a victory. Montreal had the night off on Friday having an extra day to prepare for the Leafs who were in Buffalo last night and had to play to an overtime loss. Max Pacioretty is quickly emerging as the go to guy offensively for the Habs but there are plenty of others that help out including youngsters Alex Galchenyuk, Brendan Gallagher, and PK SUbban who has been a spark plug from the blue lie. These games are always so close to call as they are bitter rivals and always seem to get up for these ones. However, I like the way the Habs are playing right now and the Buds need to find a way out in a hurry but I’m not sure it comes on the road against an improving Canadiens team.
