One issue the New York Rangers have had this season is getting above .500 and then staying there. The Rangers started in a hole with a disastarous start to the season and as they've dug their way out of it, they just haven't been able to put themselves over the top. New York will look to move to two games above the .500 mark for the first time this season with a victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.
The Rangers are coming off a 5-2 win at Madison Square Garden on Saturday afternoon against their old coach John Tortorella. Chris Kreider scored twice in the opening period and finished off the hat trick in the third period to seal the game. Rick Nash and Michael Del Zotto also scored for New York, who were able to get Cam Talbot his sixth win in seven chances. Perhaps the biggest reason for the inability of New York to really get on a roll this year is the fact that Henrik Lundqvist hasn't been able to get on a roll. The star goaltender is off to the worst start of his career and with the way Talbot is playing behind him, it will be interesting to see just how much the time is split moving forward. Winnipeg comes into Monday night's game off a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday afternoon. It was a tough spot for the Jets who had to play a hockey game that started at 11:30 a.m. on the East Coast.

The Jets were outshot 13-2 in the opening 20 minues and it was obvious that they just weren't ready to play early on. Ondrej Pavelec made 32 saves on the day but Winnipeg couldn't muster any offense until the third period when Michael Frolik scored his seventh goal of the season. At 12-12-4 it has been a relatively good start for the Jets but in a very difficult Western Conference that type of record isn't going to cut it if the Jets have any playoff aspirations. The Rangers favored a bit heavily in this one but if they play how they did on Saturday they should be able to take down Pavelec and the Jets in this one, regardless of who starts for them in goal.
