The Winnipeg Jets look to snap a three game losing streak when they travel to Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets on Monday night. Winnipeg has had a very tough stretch of games here and they haven't been able to find a way to get two points. Losses to St. Louis, Colorado, and Dallas have the Jets at 14-15-5 on the season and their playoff hopes continue to fade as we move further along this season. After playing into St. Louis' hands and losing a low scoring affair to the Blues the Jets have since allowed 10 goals in their previous two losses. On Saturday night the Jets fought back to tie the game twice against the Stars, getting goals from Blake Wheeler each time to even things up. The Dallas offense was too much for Ondrej Pavelec in this one who ended up allowing five goals on 24 shots before being pulled from the game. Al Montoya stopped seven of the eight shots he faced in relief but the Jets could never recover, falling by a score of 6-4. Now they'll have to take on a Columbus team that is starting to find some confidence and playing much better hockey than they were early on in the season. The Metropolitan Division hasn't run away from the Blue Jackets and their first year not being in the Western Conference should really help them out. Columbus will look to wash the sour taste out of their mouth from a disappointing 4-3 loss to the Blues on Saturday night. Artem Anisimov, Fedor Tyutin, and Ryan Johansen scored first period goals to give the Blue Jackets a 3-1 lead that wouldn't hold up. David Backes eventually won the game for St. Louis in overtime. Columbus is trying to survive without Sergei Bobrovsky and they have done a great job of that up to this point but these games against teams like the Jets on Monday night are ones they have to find ways to win. The Blue Jackets are on home ice and playing better hockey than Winnipeg. Controlling Blake Wheeler should be a priority of Columbus defensively and if they can do that they should be in good position to get two points.
